A BATHING APE®︎ and Concepts, a heritage brand and retailer founded in Boston, introduce their latest apparel collaboration, the ‘School of Thought’ Collection.
The concept of 'School of Thought' takes an Ivy league approach that’s reminiscent of the vitality in Harvard Square when class is back in session. Bridging the gap between Boston and Japan, inspiration was also taken from the phrase “Ametora,” a popular Japanese phrase from the 1980s meaning “American Traditional.” It encompasses Japan’s adoption of the American East Coast aesthetic with high-quality, clean dressing.
The collection includes a classic mix of elevated essentials such as a varsity jacket constructed with genuine leather sleeves, a heavy-duty cotton knit cardigan, a tartan plaid flannel with tonal embroidery designs, crewneck sweatshirts utilizing a complimentary tartan plaid to the flannel, t-shirts, socks, and a cushion.
The iconic graphics created for this collection feature the "APE HEAD" with "1993", the year BAPE®︎ was founded, and "1996", the year Concepts was founded. Also lettered patch in the collection incorporates the initials of BAPE®︎ and Concepts, and the star-shaped motif "STA" is combined with the letter "C" for a special touch. Last but not least, the original black, navy and white check pattern, used extensively throughout the collection, evokes the mood of the 1950s that inspired the collection.
The collaboration will be available at Concepts locations in Boston, New York, Dubai, cncpts.ae and cncpts.com on September 2nd.
